Council Member Will Jawanda leads in the democratic race, winner will face Republican Esther Wells in November. 

The Montgomery County Executive primary race was contested by both the democratic and republican parties. In the 5-person race for the Democratic nomination Will Jawando currently leads Andrew Friedson, Evan Glass, Mithun Banerjee, and Peter James. In the Republican primary Esther Wells beat Shelly Skolnick, winning their parties nomination.

Incumbent Marc Elrich was term limited and could not seek reelection. He is running for one of the at-large seats on the Montgomery County Council.
