In a recent publication from the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future (Blueprint) Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB), state officials released a three-page progress report on the rollout of the statewide education reform plan. Shows some progress, no mention of financial variances, barriers and challenges.
The statewide agency in charge of holding local school systems and Blueprint implementation coordinators accountable for implementation of the education reform plan released a report highlighting achievements of new policies that are in the third year of rollout. This report follows numbers released in late fall by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) showing that while literacy scores were still at unacceptable levels, the most significant improvements statewide were shown in community schools, which traditionally serve students with greater needs and barriers to learning. This is also while the number of community schools had doubled in Maryland. The chart below shows that now 23 of the 24 state jurisdictions have at least one community school.
