Wicomico Exec Giordano’s Budget Proposes Tax Relief, Funds Core Priorities

Despite facing State funding challenges, Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano has proposed a more than $3 million property tax reduction as part of the County’s fiscal 2026 budget. The proposed rate of $0.80 per $100 of assessed value — down from last year’s $0.84 — aims to deliver tax relief while maintaining significant investments in local priorities.

It also includes investments in economic development, infrastructure, public safety, parks and recreation, and community development — all while preserving the County’s fiscal stability.

“We are proud to deliver a fiscally responsible budget that not only lowers the tax burden on our citizens, but also makes key investments in our future,” said County Executive Giordano. “This proposal reflects our commitment to supporting education, enhancing public services, and improving the quality of life for everyone in Wicomico County — even in the face of tightened financial constraints at the state level.”

The County Executive’s proposal highlights continued collaboration with federal and state partners and emphasizes a focus on education, public services, and long-term quality of life improvements for Wicomico residents.

The budget has been submitted to the County Council for public hearings, review, and final adoption in the weeks ahead.
