Fun Fact: Popping Up in Flavor — One of Maryland’s Favorite Popcorn Spots

Fisher’s Popcorn, a beloved Maryland treat, has been delighting snack lovers in Worcester County since the 1930s. Originally known as Pixton’s Popcorn, the shop opened in Ocean City, serving its delicious popcorn to Marylanders along the East Coast.

Fisher’s Popcorn has a rich history rooted in family tradition and dedication to quality. In 1937, Everett Fisher partnered with his wife’s cousin, Edmund Pusey, to open Pixton’s Popcorn on the Boardwalk at Talbot Street in Ocean City. Everett managed the stand daily, but when Edmund left the business, Everett continued under his own name, crafting his signature caramel popcorn using a secret recipe.

Everett’s son, Donald Fisher, worked alongside him from the start. When Everett was drafted into military service during WWII, Donald took charge of the stand, ensuring the business carried on.

By the late 1950s, Donald and his wife Calvina were raising their three children — Cindy, Marty, and Don Jr. The family worked together to run their beloved popcorn stand in Worcester County, with Donald ensuring every batch met their high standards.

In the 1980s, Marty and her husband Bill expanded the family business, opening a store in Fenwick Island, Delaware. Their four children grew up working in the store, and today, three of them continue the tradition. The family now operates locations in Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware — all independent from the original Ocean City store.

Today, Fisher’s Popcorn remains a small, family-owned and operated business. In addition to its Worcester County locations, fans can find Fisher’s Popcorn at stores throughout the East Coast, keeping the tradition alive for generations to come.
