What better way to kick off Thanksgiving morning than by joining an annual county Turkey Trot? Across Maryland, counties host these festive runs to start the holiday with energy and community spirit.
The annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot has become a cherished tradition for many households, marking the start of their holiday celebrations. This morning run or walk supports local organizations across Maryland, bringing communities together for a good cause. It’s also a fun way to kick off the day and burn some extra calories before indulging in the Thanksgiving feast.
Check out some of the local Thanksgiving Turkey Trots throughout Maryland:
- Turkey Trot Fun Run, Walk or Jog – 2 mile run, walk, or jog starting at Denton Elementary School in Caroline County
- Turkey Trot for Project Echo – Run, walk or parade in a festive holiday costume benefiting Project Echo at the ARC of Southern Maryland Community Resource Center.
- Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot – Run through downtown Annapolis in Anne Arundel County. There will be a prize for the best turkey costume.
- Y Turkey Trot Charity 5k – There are seven races on the Eastern Shore and Central Maryland. The 3.1 mile course allows participants to help benefit children and families living in poverty in local communities.
- Turkey Trek 5k – Trek through Pemberton Historical Park to support their environmental education programs.
- Hagerstown Community College Turkey Trot – Proceeds go towards the community college student athletic programs and scholarships.
- Turkey Trot – Frederick County is holding their annual Turkey Trot going for more than 15 years.
- Bulle Rock Turkey Trot 5k – Weave through the Bulle Rock Community and golf course for this 5k benefiting the Susquehanna Hose Company’s equipment fund.
- Annual Bethesda Turkey Chase Charity Run – For the past 36 years the annual event supports the YMCA’s Youth and Family Services, YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club Foundation.
