MDE will host several informational sessions on their proposed updated Building Energy Performance Standards.
As required by the Climate Solutions Now Act (CSNA) of 2022, The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is hosting a series of informational sessions regarding the proposed updated Maryland Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS). For background, BEPS focuses on buildings 35,000 square feet and above and is designed to improve Maryland’s air quality and Marylanders’ health, save building owners and occupants money, and achieve the State’s climate pollution reduction goals.

Campus Compliance Working Group – Session 1

Affordable Housing Provider Working Group- Session 1
- Please join MDE and MD DHCD for the Affordable Housing Working Group, which will cover the reduced alternative compliance payment process for affordable housing providers. The group will review supporting documentation for these requests.

Exemption Process Working Group
- Please tune in to the Exemption Process Working Group informational session to hear MDE review exemption forms and explain supporting information that must be provided for an exemption request.

Benchmarking and Reporting Working Group – Session 3
- Please tune into the Benchmarking and Reporting Working Group – session 3 to learn how to submit data to both Montgomery County DEP and MDE. The presentation and accompanying draft document will provide guidance on how to handle slight differences in the BEPS requirements for both jurisdictions using a single Portfolio Manager entry for your covered building.
