Sept 26th MEA Hosts SolarAPP+ Webinar

MEA is hosting a September 26th webinar for counties on adopting SolarAPP+.

The Brighter Tomorrow Act of 2024 (Chapter 595, 2024 Acts of Maryland, S.B. 783) requires each Maryland County and Municipality that issues solar permits “to implement solar permitting software for features supporting the tracking and approval of residential building permits for: 1) residential solar energy systems; 2) residential energy storage systems; 3) main electrical panel upgrades, and 4) main electrical panel derates” no later than August 1, 2025.

To prepare local governments, MEA is offering its SolarAPP+ Implementation Grant Program to help Counties and Municipalities recover any costs associated with adopting the free-to-use SolarAPP+ software.

MEA is providing a question-and-answer session with the NREL SolarAPP+ experts so counties can ask questions.  This session will be held virtually on September 26th at 10 a.m. EST

Local governments are encouraged to send multiple people to ask questions regarding their individual areas of responsibility in the solar permitting process.  While questions are expected in the areas of information technology (IT) compatibility, financial systems, and individualizing the application for your County or Municipality, questions in other areas are welcome.  This is your opportunity to ask questions, especially questions that may be complex.
