Engineering for the Environment: Collaborating with the Nonprofit Sector #MACoCon

During the MACo Winter Conference panel, Engineering for the Environment, panelists will highlight nonprofit partners and examine the benefits of collaborating on certain projects.

As counties take advantage of the historic federal investment in infrastructure, engaging with local stakeholders and NGOs will become increasingly important. Engagement with local groups can provide two major benefits: first, NGOs can offer technical and capacity support that can help some counties currently lack, and second, NGOs may offer valuable perspectives that can help improve project design and development. Improved communication and coordination between counties and NGOs is important as climate change intensifies and both intensify their focus on the environment.

  • Title: Engineering for the Environment: Collaborating with the Nonprofit Sector
  • Description: Maryland has a robust nonprofit ecosystem, with several major local and statewide organizations focused on preserving the state’s natural resources. These nonprofits can provide counties with resources to further infrastructure development. By leveraging the benefits of outside stakeholders, such as technical capabilities, workforce capacities, specializations, funding partnerships, etc., counties can reduce barriers and further local objectives. This panel will highlight nonprofit partners and examine the benefits of collaborating on certain projects.
