MACo Team Welcomes Shantelle Malcolm-Lym as Comms Lead

Shantelle Malcolm-Lym has joined the MACo staff this week, as Communications Coordinator, and will lead MACo’s effort with media and outreach efforts.

Mrs. Malcolm-Lym joins MACo after serving in a lead community outreach role for the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, where she helped to develop the communications strategy for the Office of Community Engagement. With the Department, she led efforts to promote homeowner assistance programs and other housing-related offerings for Maryland residents.

With MACo, Mrs. Malcolm-Lym will coordinate the Conduit Street blog, and aggregate contents into the weekly “push” sent to thousands of MACo and county contacts each Friday. She will manage the association’s social media, helping to promote MACo and county events and to foster relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders. She will also produce and contribute to the Conduit Street Podcast helping to advance that still-growing avenue for information on state policy and politics.

“We are very pleased to add Mrs. Malcolm-Lym to our team at MACo,” said Executive Director Michael Sanderson. “We want to be connected to our members, and to everyone who is engaged in public service across Maryland. She’s going to help us be even more effective in doing just that.”

Mrs. Malcolm-Lym has previous work experience in Jamaica as a communications leader in both the public and commercial sectors. She has her collegiate degree from the University of The West Indies, Mona, in Jamaica.
