Hit the Ground Running – View the Winter #MACoCon Registration Brochure

MACo’s Winter Conference is coming up January 4-6, 2023 (with a pre-conference day on January 3 for new county officials). Take a look at the topics planned so you can hit the ground running in this new term and meet the new officials and decision-makers from all levels of government.

This conference will deliver county government fundamentals, along with deep dives on the important issues coming up in the 2023 legislative session. Relationship-building among newly elected officials at the county, state, and legislative levels will also be a timely focus as all levels of government in Maryland prepare to hit the ground running with new and veteran officials as we begin the first year of the new four-year term.

MACo’s Newly Elected Officials Orientation (for county officials only) will be a focus of the event, providing new county executive, council members, and commissioners with foundational knowledge and training as they begin their terms as county officials.

The Winter Conference includes an opening roundtable, several general sessions, educational sessions hosted by MACo’s affiliate organizations (county professionals), and the 2023 General Assembly Forecast, which features legislative and gubernatorial administration leaders giving their thoughts on the upcoming General Assembly Session. Courses from the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance will be offered, including fundamental sessions for both new and returning officials and staff. Best practices and cost-savings information will be delivered in a series hosted by industry experts as part of MACo’s Solutions Showcase.

And finally, an awards banquet celebrating county champions, the inaugural banquet welcoming MACo’s new Board of Directors, and several networking events round out the offerings available this January at Maryland’s premiere event for local government stakeholders.
