The Local Government Insurance trust (LGIT) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Executive Director. LGIT was founded in 1987 and serves 164 local government units and 23 sponsored entities. LGIT operates three pools of coverage with a combined net position of over $60 million.
Since its founding, LGIT has served county and municipal governments across Maryland with excellent and stable property and casualty insurance coverage. Throughout this time, MACo has proudly supported and endorsed LGIT coverage as an option for county governments in need of these offerings. LGIT’s in-house experts routinely participate in MACo conferences, support policy advocacy, and join alongside county professionals as part of MACo’s affiliate structure.
LGIT has 30 employees. The Executive Director reports to a twelve-member Board of Trustees. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Ten years of relevant experience needed, with at least five years in senior management roles in local government or association management. The ideal candidate will possess experience in insurance pools/products and risk management. Starting salary in the low 200s, depending on qualifications.
