County Executive Jan Gardner announced several key initiatives that draw on a portion of Frederick County’s $50.4 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation. The initiatives — identified and developed through extensive public outreach and input — will protect public health, support the economy, and lift people and families who have suffered from the impacts of the pandemic.
Frederick Health will receive two awards: $2.5 million to support the health response and $1.1 million to provide service coordination and home-based care for low-income seniors. An additional $500,000 will go toward doubling the funds awarded through the County’s award-winning Agriculture Innovation Grants Program. Finally, the County is allocating $78,000 to the Salvation Army to support its New Day Center for people experiencing housing instability.
“The goal of these projects is to make sure our community remains healthy and strong,” Executive Gardner said. “I particularly want to thank Frederick Health for their strong partnership throughout the pandemic. We are investing funds wisely so that together we can make a long-term difference and lift our community to an even better place.”

Previously approved projects have been reported publicly during the County Executive’s public information briefings and in presentations to the County Council. Additional applications for ARPA funds are being considered by a Frederick County Government review committee to ensure proposals meet strict federal guidelines.
