This week, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski announced that the County has secured a 24.5 acre site in the Lutherville-Timonium area to be designated as open space.
The site currently has a sizeable recreation space including several baseball fields. The area was threatened by development pressure and destined to become a residential prior to the County stepping in to ensure local residents would continue to have access. The acquisition also preserves additional green space in close proximity to the Loch Raven Reservoir Watershed including a stream. The County is hoping to secure Program Open Space funds for the site.
“Creating more space for recreational opportunities is a critical component of our efforts to improve quality of life and create vibrant communities for residents across Baltimore County,” Olszewski said. “Residents in the Lutherville-Timonium area are now assured that this significant green space will stay available for recreational activities for years — and generations — to come.”
