U.S. Senator Ben Cardin this week hosted a virtual town hall for Maryland county leaders to review the most recent federal COVID-19 relief package, preview the 117th Congress, and answer questions from the nearly 100 participants.
U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Maryland’s senior U.S. Senator and the top-ranking Democrat on the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, addressed the adversity that MACo’s membership faces due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Cardin answered questions about federal resources for pandemic assistance and solicited suggestions for how Congress can better assist local governments. “We are all on the front lines,” said Senator Cardin.
Topics included: broadband access and affordability, PPP loans for small businesses, and health services. During the town hall, Senator Cardin also laid out the Senate Democrats’ priorities for the 117th Congress.
Senator Cardin is optimistic that in the coming months the federal government will deliver additional resources to ease the strain on Marylanders and pave a clear path forward to the recovery of our nation’s public and economic health.
