MACo’s Michael Sanderson Completes National High Performance Leadership Academy

MACo’s Executive Director, Michael Sanderson, successfully completed the National Association of Counties (NACo) High Performance Leadership Academy, a 12-week online program that equips frontline county government professionals and county association executives with leadership skills to achieve results for county residents.

NACo’s High Performance Leadership Academy features a robust curriculum developed by the Professional Development Academy in partnership with Fortune 1000 executives, public sector leaders and world-renowned thought leaders, including General Colin Powell and Dr. Marshall Goldsmith. The graduation of the current cohort took place virtually on Friday, November 6, and was presided over by General Powell.

“The opportunity to hear perspectives from all walks of life and business really helps develop a perspective on leadership,” said Mr. Sanderson. “I think anyone, new to leadership or not, would gain valuable lessons from this program.”

The High Performance Leadership Academy focuses on five essential skills: leading, organizing, collaborating, communicating, and delivering. It emphasizes real-time instruction, small-group learning and knowledge exchanges.
