Cecil Cares 2020, the County’s annual day of service, will be hosted this year on Saturday, October 3rd.
Local organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for projects that volunteers may participate in or support. While the County does want volunteers to show Cecil County they care, it is also important to protect the safety of the community.
For that reason, the County is encouraging organizations to offer options for safe volunteering that may include:
- Hands-off projects (i.e. virtual events, donation drives, fundraisers) coordinated and managed by organizations and promoted by Volunteer Cecil to enlist the help of community volunteers.
- Hands-on service projects coordinated and managed in-person by organizations and promoted on Volunteer Cecil to enlist the physical help of community volunteers. Organizations will be required to follow safety guidelines (masks, physical distancing, limiting the number of volunteers engaged) at project sites.
According to a County press release:
For project packets, or for more information, you can contact event coordinators at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for receiving applications is August 28, 2020, and projects will be posted on www.volunteercecil.org (under the Cecil Cares 2020 banner) by September 4, 2020. At that time, citizens will be able to visit the website to locate a project and sign up to volunteer.
In addition to organization-led projects, individuals and families may choose to participate in Cecil Cares 2020 by supporting a cause they care about on October 3, 2020, and sending us photos of “the care” in action.
This year, especially, all citizens are encouraged to show their care and support for our community by participating in Cecil Cares 2020. More information will be made available as we approach the date of the event.
