The Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) is offering a free webinar series on a variety of timely topics in the energy sector.

MCEC is launching a series of free webinars entitled Connecting to the Energy Economy Speaker Series. The series will run from September 3 through November 5, 2020, on Thursdays, from 10:30 AM – Noon. Session topics most likely to interest county representatives include solar energy siting, and the minimum offer price rule (MOPR) order issued to the region’s grid.

From MCEC:

Optimal Solar Siting for Maryland

Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 10:30 AM – Noon

Maryland is making moves to meet its RPS mandate, but land-use priorities and regulations create challenges about where best to site new solar energy projects. What are the optimal solutions? How can the state incentivize development of distributed generation in desirable locations and ensure that projects in those locations have a smooth path to permits?

Managing the MOPR: Maryland Response to FERC Order

Thursday, October 1, 2020, from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM Extended Session

A divided Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued an order in December of 2019 directing the PJM Interconnection to dramatically expand its Minimum Offer Price Rule (MOPR) to nearly all state-subsidized capacity resources. The order will have a significant impact on the capacity market which serves Maryland ratepayers. Will regulators, utilities, and consumers be able to find common ground in responding to the order? Find out how retail rates will be impacted and what this directive could mean to mandated renewable energy supply goals in law today. Be informed. Be VERY informed. Don’t miss this extended session!
