Harford FY 21 Budget Prioritizes Schools and Public Safety, Holds Tax Rates Steady

Harford County SealThe Harford County Council yesterday passed a $948 million operating budget that fully funds the board of education’s operating budget — an approximately $20.5 million increase to school funding — and provides record funding for public safety, libraries, and Harford County Community College.

The FY 21 budget holds tax rates steady and maintains reserves for fiscal uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. County Executive Barry Glassman intends to revisit the spending plan after the County determines the overall impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and has more information on state and federal funding assistance.
