Redmer to Leave Maryland Insurance Administration for Maryland Auto Insurance

alredmerAl Redmer, Jr. is leaving his post as Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration to serve as Executive Director of Maryland Auto Insurance.

Redmer has served as Maryland Insurance Commissioner since 2015 when appointed by Governor Larry Hogan. He also previously served as commissioner from June 2003-2005.

As reported by The Baltimore Business Journal:

In his new role at MAIF, Redmer will oversee the state-sponsored organization which provides automobile insurance to residents who may not otherwise be able to afford it. The news comes after MAIF’s current director, Mark McCurdy, announced his retirement to the organization’s board of trustees last year. Redmer was selected by the board’s search committee as McCurdy’s successor.
