The Large County Coalition held a roundtable discussion on education funding at its annual luncheon at this year’s MACo Winter Conference. Specifically, members discussed the potential impacts of the Kirwan Commission’s ambitious, multi-billion-dollar overhaul of Maryland’s education system.
The Coalition is a chapter organization within MACo and aims to promote collegiality and cooperation, share information, and develop strategic alliances among Maryland counties with populations greater than 200,000. The Coalition works to ensure that representation in government is equal for all Marylanders, no matter where they reside.
The luncheon was held on Thursday, December 5, 2019, and chaired by Prince George’s County Council Member Mel Franklin.
The 2019 MACo Winter Conference, “Building for the Future,” was held on December 4-6, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge, Maryland. This year’s conference focused on county governance challenges and best practices – from the foundation to the rooftop – that will decide Maryland’s future.
