The Worcester County Commissioners today announced that Lachelle Scarlato will serve as the new Worcester County Economic Development (WCED) deputy director.
“Lachelle will be a wonderful addition to our team here in Worcester County,” WCED Director Kathryn Gordon said. “She provides a great blend of education and knowledge with a strong passion for community development and entrepreneurship.”

Scarlato earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Maryland. She is an accomplished entrepreneur who brings two decades of government and business management experience to her new position.
Scarlato has worked in local government economic development, is a licensed Realtor with a background in both residential and commercial real estate, and is co-owner of several small businesses to include two marinas located in the Northern Chesapeake Region. She resides in Ocean City and is a lifelong equestrian and horse owner who has a comprehensive understanding of the importance the agricultural community and its contributions to the economy of Worcester County and the state of Maryland.
“As a Maryland resident, it thrills me to realize a dream of calling Worcester County my full-time home,” Scarlato said. “It is exceptionally exciting to also be able to work in Worcester County and be a part of a community that values its natural resources while continuing to be progressive in its business, educational, and environmental initiatives. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Scarlato is active in the Harford County Million Dollar Realtors Association, Harford County Association of Realtors, Maryland Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors.
