Gazette Holds Q&A with Anne Arundel Health Officer Nominee

Anne-Arundel-County-SealAnne Arundel County Health Officer nominee Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman had a Q&A discussion with Capital Gazette reporter Chase Cook that is well worth the read.

The sit down covered the gambit from his public health goals, handling issues within the department, and addressing gun violence.

From The Capital Gazette:

When asked about his plans as health officer, Kalyanaraman said he wants to focus on better community partnerships, service delivery and data collection. One example he gave was the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition. The coalition was created in 2011 as part of a statewide initiative to improve health.

Another was lack of accessible gun violence data in county health reports. The last public health report by location was in 2014 and sourced data from 2009 to 2011, Kalyanaraman said.
