Cecil Names New Deputy Director of Public Works

CecilCecil County Executive Alan McCarthy today announced the appointment of Ms. Teresa Gardner as Deputy Director of the Cecil County Department of Public Works.

“Teresa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the public works and transportation engineering fields, and will be a great addition to the DPW team,” said Scott Flanigan, County Director of Public Works.

According to a press release:

Ms. Gardner has over 32 years of experience in the transportation engineering and public works fields, including time spent with both the Delaware and Virginia Departments of Transportation. She has also served as the Director of Public Works for the City of Salisbury, Maryland and is currently the Director of Public Works for the City of Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Ms. Gardner possesses a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware, and is a licensed professional engineer in Delaware, Virginia, and Maryland.

With 108 employees and a Fiscal Year 2019 operating budget of $26M, the Cecil County Department of Public Works contributes to the health, safety, economic well-being, and quality of life of the citizens of Cecil County by providing road and bridge maintenance, wastewater collection and treatment, recycling, solid waste management, stormwater management, and capital project management services.

Ms. Gardner will start her new duties as Deputy Director of Public Works on June 3, 2019.
