Congestion on Route 3 and Ritchie Highway has spurred the Maryland Department of Transportation to study the feasibility and costs of widening the roads.
The Baltimore Sun reports:
In an Oct. 11 letter to County Executive Steve Schuh, Secretary of Transportation Pete Rahn said his department has initiated a “high-level feasibility study to determine preliminary costs and impacts” of widening the two roadways.
The concepts seek to widen Ritchie Highway in both directions along the 17-mile stretch from the Baltimore City line in Brooklyn Park to its intersection with Route 50 in Arnold, and widening Route 3 from the Prince George’s County line to Route 32 in Millersville, a 7-mile run.
The study of these high congestion areas is being done at the request of Anne Arundel County.
