Healthy Waters Round Table Offers Eastern Shore Sewer Extension Workshop

The Healthy Waters Round Table is offering a Sewer Extension Workshop for Eastern Shore local governments on Wednesday, December 14, at Chesapeake College. The Workshop runs from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and includes a continental breakfast and a full lunch. The registration cost is $20.

The registration deadline is Friday, December 9.

The Healthy Waters Round Table is a collaboration between the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Harry R. Hughes Center fro Agro-Ecology, Sea Grant Maryland, and the University of Maryland Extension. The purpose of the Round Table is to assist the Eastern Shore in meetings its Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and related clean water requirements. Round Table participants include a diverse array of county, municipal, agricultural, and environmental representatives.

The Healthy Waters Round Table partners, Maryland Department of the Environment, and Maryland Department of Planning are pleased to announce that registration is open for the Eastern Shore Sewer Extension Workshop.

This workshop – designed specifically by and for Eastern Shore local government representatives and staff – will highlight information, technical assistance and resources available to local jurisdictions who wish to learn more about this tool that can help achieve Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) pollution reduction goals and improve local water quality.

Questions that will be answered include:

  • How can my jurisdiction finance a project?

  • What are some tested tools to help manage growth?

  • Could an extension project affect my discharge permit?

  • Will it solve my WIP?
