The Worcester County Board of Education has appointed Stephen Price to be the new Chief Operating Officer and Assistant Superintendent for Operations for the school system at their monthly meeting on Nov. 15.
Price’s appointment fills the vacancy left by Louis Taylor after Taylor was appointed to be the new district superintendent.
“I am humbled to be a part of the school system leadership team here in Worcester County,” Price said in a press release. “This is my twentieth year within the school system and I have been honored to be a part of this community since my first day. To now become an integral part of the team to shape (Worcester County Public School’s) future is thrilling for me.”
Price began his career within the Worcester County school system in 1996 as an alternative education teacher at Stephen Decatur High School. He was later named assistant principal of the school, a position he held for four years.
In 2004, Price was named the Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation for the school system. After the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in 2012, he was placed in charge of student safety and security.
Price holds a Bachelor’s degree in science from Salisbury University and a Master’s degree in education from Wilmington University.
