SBA Approves Disaster Declaration After Flooding

The United States Small Business Association has approved a disaster declaration for Howard County. Governor Hogan requested the declaration on Tuesday as a result of the flash flooding that struck Ellicott City July 30.

From County Executive Kittleman’s press release,

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – I have just received word that Small Business Administration Director Maria Contreras-Sweet has signed our request to make low-interest disaster loans available to homeowners, property owners, businesses and nonprofit agencies. This provides more vital resources while we rebuild Ellicott City.

I’d like to thank Governor Hogan and all of our federal and state partners in making this possible. I’m especially grateful that Governor Hogan and our federal partners, Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin and our Congressional delegation for their support as we work to restore Ellicott City.
