NACo will be hosting the third in a series of virtual town halls on the opioid crisis affecting counties across the nation. The town hall will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm. Click here to register.
NACo’s Virtual Town Hall series on the opioid crisis concludes with a discussion of public safety issues related to opioid abuse. Local law enforcement departments, who are charged with preserving public safety in the midst of an escalating epidemic, are increasingly being called upon to divert opioid users from entering the justice system. How our public safety agencies can balance the dual objectives of combating the criminal elements of the opioid epidemic while addressing the mounting health crisis. We will be joined for this discussion by representatives of the Major County Sheriffs Association and the National District Attorneys Association.
