Governor Larry Hogan has appointed Chris Shank as Chief Legislative Officer.
As reported in The Baltimore Sun:
As Hogan’s chief adviser on legislative affairs, Shank will supervise the office that drafts administration bills and sets legislative strategy. He will also serve as the administration’s chief lobbyist in dealings with General Assembly leaders.
Shank, 44, joined the Hogan administration in 2015 as director of the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention. It was in this role he took on the task of chairing the commission whose work led to passage of the Justice Reinvestment Act this year — hailed as the most sweeping reform to the state’s criminal justice system in decades.
Shank previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff and will be replaced by Tiffany Robinson currently an assistant secretary at the Department of Housing and Community Development.
