MACo Executive Director Michael Sanderson testified in support of SB 1097, Local Government Tort Claims Act – Regional Development Councils, to the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee on March 15, 2016.

The bill would acknowledge the important local role of regional development councils and treat them the same as similar groups by including them under the Local Government Tort Claims Act (LGTCA).

Mr. Sanderson testified in support, saying “these are entities doing public work across county lines – it’s exactly what you want them to be doing.” He urged the bill as a matter of equity, “it’s the fair thing to do – treat them the same as others listed in the law.”
