On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, the Washington County Republican Central Committee named Wayne Kelly Keefer to be nominated to fill the vacant commission seat. Keefer’s name will be sent to the Governor’s appointment office.

Keefer is 30 years old and was one of twelve applicants to fill the seat.
According to the Herald-Mail Media,
Keefer — who owns North Bend Treasures in Hancock and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland System at Hagerstown — said he was honored to have been selected.
“I’m very honored to have been chosen by the central committee,” he said in a telephone interview. “I’m looking forward to working with everyone in Washington County.”
