Southern Maryland Tri-County Council Learns About FY 2017 Budget, Installs New Leadership

The Tri-County Council Meeting for Southern Maryland heard several details about Governor Larry Hogan’s FY 2017 budget and inaugurated a new Chair at its annual early-Session meeting on January 21.

Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, Governor Hogan’s Deputy Chief of Staff, briefly provided the Council with information about the contents of the budget.  Stressing the importance of the regional local government councils throughout the state, she announced that each council is fully funded to $200,000 in the Governor’s budget.  Haddaway-Riccio also noted that for the first time there were dollars in the Governor’s budget for the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund. Finally, she stated that the Governor included funding in the budget for a phased-in restoration of local highway user revenues.
