Kent County’s New Economic Development Coordinator

Kent County’s new economic development coordinator Jamie Williams made her debut at the county commissioners meeting on August 18. As reported on My Eastern Shore MD:

Williams, who previously served as a clerk in the county commissioners’ office, said she plans to spend at least one day a week in the field, visiting businesses and learning first hand about the local economy.

She said she had already contacted the county’s three largest employers — Washington College, Shore Medical Center at Chestertown and Dixon Valve & Coupling — to learn what the county can do to help them. She said their main concerns are education, affordable housing, child care, jobs for employees’ spouses and workforce development. Williams said she was working to create criteria to measure progress in these areas.
