NACo’s Annual Conference drew to a close on Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina. A few updates from the Conference include:
- Roy Charles Brooks, Tarrant County, Texas commissioner, has been elected NACo second Vice President.
- The Board of Directors took up 122 policy resolutions. Resolutions on the minimum wage and opposition to life sentences without parole for juveniles were among a few resolutions that sparked a longer discussion by the Board.
- The Achievement Award program celebrated its 45th anniversary this year.Twenty-one counties were honored at the Awards Luncheon for achieving best of their category.
- Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter emphasized the role that counties can play in supporting the armed forces in his keynote address.
