Dan Franklin is determined to make a difference in Caroline County and is passionate in doing so in the place where he lives. In addition to being a newly elected commissioner, Franklin is a Corporal with the Denton Police Department in the K-9 Unit. He’s been with Denton’s police department since December of 2001. Franklin said that choosing his career path in law enforcement was when he felt like he had defined himself. He shares, “I had done many different jobs before becoming a police officer, but I never had a career”. Friends and people he met in the community encouraged Franklin to get into politics, feeling he’d be successful.
Franklin was recently married on June 20, 2015 to the love of his life, Stephanie and said that his family is everything to him. He has cats and dogs, one of which is his Police K-9, Bart (pictured in photo). Franklin enjoys helping others and gives everything he has to everything he does. He feels as though his ability to keep calm and patient in situations has served him well in his current capacity.
One thing that Franklin would absolutely love to do is learn to play the piano. His motto is, “Hope for the best, plan for the worst and don’t worry about things you can’t control. Worrying is a waste of time. It’s going to happen whether you worry or not.”
