The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is now accepting applications for the Community Legacy Program (CL) and for the Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Fund (SDSGIF). Governor Hogan’s Fiscal Year 2016 budget items, approved by the Maryland General Assembly, included $6.0 million in capital funds for the CL program and $7.5 million in capital funds for the SDSGIF program.
Information on Programs
CL provides local governments and community development organizations with funding for essential projects aimed at strengthening communities through activities such as business retention and attraction, encouraging homeownership and commercial revitalization. Eligible applicants include local governments, community development organizations, and groups of local governments sharing a common purpose or goal.
SDSGIF seeks to catalyze activities that accelerate economic development, job production and smart growth in existing Maryland communities. It aims to improve the economic viability of “grey field development” which often faces more barriers than sprawling “green field development.” Eligible applicants include local governments and non profit community development organizations.
Deadline for Applications
The 2016 due date for CL program and the SDSGIF applications is Wednesday, July 15, 2015, 3:00 PM.
DHCD utilizes the web-based Project Portal for application to the aforementioned programs. MANDATORY training is required before access to the Project Portal is provided. Application training will be presented as a recorded webinar which may be viewed at your convenience. Application training registration grants access to both the recorded presentation as well as to the Project Portal to submit applications for the programs.
