This week, the National Association of Counties (NACo) participated in two hearings on Capitol Hill. First, Judge/Executive Gary Moore, Boone County, Ky., testified before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on the potentially negative impacts of proposed ozone regulations issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  Second, Commission Chairman Ron Walter, Chelan County, Wash., spoke before the House Natural Resources Committee on forest health legislation.

Calls to action and opportunities to testify on the Hill are often announced on NACo’s monthly conference call with the Northeast County Caucus. The Northeast County Caucus is a regional affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) with representation from Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Participation in the Northeast County Caucus affords insider information in to federal policies that affect Maryland county governments.
