The National Association of Counties (NACo) is actively seeking interested county officials – either elected representatives or professional managers – who have knowledge or an interest in a certain issue area or concerns about the effects of federal legislation on counties, to serve on its various policy steering committees.
Maryland officials interested in serving on a committee are invited to contact Kaley Schultze at MACo.
The 10 NACo Steering Committees include:
- Agriculture & Rural Affairs
- Community, Economic & Workforce Development
- Environment, Energy & Land Use
- Finance, Pensions & Intergovernmental Affairs
- Health
- Human Services & Education
- Justice & Public Safety
- Public Lands
- Telecommunications & Technology
- Transportation
How To Join a Steering Committee:
The process of joining a steering committee is simple: You need to apply though your state association of counties.
A form to apply for steering committee membership is available online, and may be completed and returned to Kaley Schultze at MACo via email or fax: 410.268.1775. Forms are due Friday, June 19, 2015.
You should mark on the nomination form your first and second choice of which steering committee you would like to serve.
NACo makes every effort to accommodate the nominee’s first choice of steering committee assignments. Committee appointments serve on a committee for one year (beginning in September) and cannot transfer membership to another committee, or serve on more than one steering committee, during that year.
If you have further questions, please contact Kaley Schultze at MACo at 410.269.0043.
