After two Montgomery County departments have purchased drones, the county council has introduced a resolution requesting that the county executive provide a plan for use of the drones for review and approval by the council.  As reported by the Gazette,

According to county documents, the Department of Fire and Rescue Services recently purchased three drones to provide aerial views at fire scenes. The Office of Innovation also has a drone to test and develop a plan for using.

Drones raise privacy and policy issues, Councilman Roger Berliner said.

That is why he is lead sponsor of a resolution to ensure that the council maintains oversight of any use of drones in the county.

The Public Safety Committee is scheduled to discuss the resolution on October 2.
