The Prescription drug program sponsored by the National Association of Counties and by MACo has now saved Maryland residents $44 million on medications. In only 6 years of operation, this effective program has found savings for more than 800,000 prescriptions to Maryland residents, yielding an average savings of more than 25%.
Best of all – the program is completely free to your county and to your residents!
Visit the NACo Health website for more information about the program, including a simple sign up form.

From the NACo health site:
The NACo Prescription Discount Card Program gives your county the chance to offer prescription savings to your uninsured and underinsured county residents. This great program can help residents save money on prescriptions at an average savings of 24%. The program assists county residents who are struggling financially or pay out of pocket for their prescriptions. There is no cost to the county and no cost to residents. Simply use the card. The entire family can be covered with one card.
The discounts are negotiated directly with participating pharmacies. Over 60,000 pharmacies participate in the program and it is used by county residents in more than 1,400 counties.
While the prescription discount program has anchored the NACo Health service for years, NACo has now expanded its reach into other health services, and citizens in participating counties can use their benefits for discounts on other health services and equipment. From the NACo health website:
The Prescription & Health Discount Program, which is administered by CVS Caremark, includes discounts on prescriptions, vision care, LASIK & PRK vision procedures, hearing aids & screenings, prepaid lab work, prepaid diagnostic imaging and diabetic supplies. A resident can begin saving on prescriptions as soon as he/she receives a free prescription discount card. To add additional health services, memberships are available on a monthly or annual subscription basis for both individuals and families and discounts are available immediately upon enrollment. For individuals, the fee is $6.95 a month or $69 a year. For families, the fee is $8.95 a month or $79 a year.
