Leggett Prevails in Montgomery Primary

Incumbent County Executive Isiah “Ike” Leggett prevailed in yesterday’s primary in the race for Montgomery County Executive. Unofficial results from the State Board of Elections report County Executive Leggett with 45% of the vote, leading his closest opponent by 13% (results as of 7am Wednesday morning).

County Executive Leggett stated on his campaign website,

The future is here in Montgomery County and much still remains to be done. And I want to continue to add my voice and leadership as we move forward together. Join me in continuing to make a good County even better. It would be an honor and a privilege for me to continue to serve as County Executive of Montgomery County. I thank you in advance for your support.

County Executive Leggett’s challengers in the primary included Douglas M. Duncan and Phil Andrews. Doug Duncan served as Montgomery County Executive from 1994 through 2006.  Phil Andrews is a current Montgomery County Councilmember.

County Executive Leggett serves as First Vice President on the MACo Board.
