BJA Launches Rural Drug Court Initiative

Through a special project with American University, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA)’s Drug Court Technical Assistance Project has launched an initiative focused on providing services and support to rural drug courts. The Rural Drug Courts Initiative includes interactive and multimedia services including webinars, a listerve and a chapter in the technical assistance guide dedicated to rural drug court needs and strategies.

As part of the initiative, a webinar covering some of the special challenges faced by rural drug courts and solutions and innovative technologies that some jurisdictions have found effective was held earlier this year. The webinar included a series of questions and answers from attendees on a wide variety of issues related to rural drug courts programs.
