Calvert County Commissioner Steve Weems has been named Chair of the executive board of the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland and will start his duties at the first council meeting on January 23, 2014.

From Calvert County’s newsletter:

As chairman, Weems will lead the regular monthly meetings of the executive board. The board discusses regional issues that will be presented at the county’s quarterly meeting.

Voting members of the executive board govern the council, set its policies, approve its annual budget and determine priorities for the three Southern Maryland counties.
