Facebook Representative to Speak at MACo Winter Conference

FacebookMACo’s Winter Conference, #CountiesConnect, will be held on December 11-13, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, Maryland. The event will focus on social media, communication, and open government.

MACo has just confirmed Facebook’s Education & Outreach Manager, Jordan Harp, as a speaker for the General Session, “Social Media: Making it Work for You,” scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 9:00 am.

Around the country and around the world, governments are using social media to deepen their relationships with their constituents and provide services to the public. Jordan will discuss how Facebook users are increasingly going mobile and what that means for government entities trying to reach them. He will also discuss some of the best practices for government officials on Facebook and how to use Insights to measure success. He has provided similar training to government agencies around the country at the local, state and federal levels.

As Education & Outreach Manager for Facebook, Jordan works with elected officials to help them use Facebook to engage their supporters and constituents. He trains practitioners from political campaigns and government to get the most out of the platform. In 2012, he worked at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as a digital strategist, helping to run an online fundraising campaign that raised over $50 million during the 2012 cycle. Jordan received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Attend MACo’s Winter Conference to learn from Facebook and other experts how best to use social media and other forms of communication to reach your county’s residents and keep them actively engaged and interacting with local government.
