MML Adopts Strategic Initiative on Municipal Property Tax Setoffs

In addition to its legislative priority, the Maryland Municipal League (MML) adopted a strategic initiative during its business meeting held at the organization’s annual fall conference on October 18. The strategic initiative, which was approved by the MML Legislative Committee, is aimed to address issues involving municipal property tax setoffs.

From the MML electronic bulletin:

Based on the work of a MML Double Taxation Workgroup that was established by the Chairman of the MML Legislative Committee in 2012, the membership also voted to continue to move the property tax double taxation issue forward by supporting a double taxation strategic initiative. This initiative will include interaction with affected stakeholders in an attempt to engage them in resolving the longstanding double taxation issue in Maryland. The initiative will also include a broad education program and a public information campaign to include outreach to candidates running for office in 2014.
