As reported in the Cecil Daily, the Cecil County Council heard public comment Tuesday night regarding the purchase of an existing business site near Elkton for a new school of technology. According to the Daily,
The next step is for the county council to consider public comment before members take a final vote Sept. 17 to allow the school system to exercise its option to buy the Basell property for $8.97 million, contingent upon results of a due diligence review.
The Council has considered various plans over the past several years to accommodate additional students. Some have been denied because of costs. As described in the Daily,
The Basell project is estimated to cost a total of $18.8 million, including purchase, engineering, site work, construction and equipment.
