The MACo staff gave testimony this week on the following bills:

March 20, 2013:

• HB 1384: State Retirement and Pension System – Board of Trustees – County Representation testimony

MACo supported one of several bills designed to create a county “seat at the table” for state pension oversight.

• HB 1414: State Retirement and Pension System – Report on Proposal to Authorize Counties to Elect Alternate Pension Options for Teachers testimony

MACo supported a study to evaluate and assess transitional considerations and costs arising from any future county decision to alter teacher pension offerings (not currently authorized under state law).

• SB 1055: State Aid for Critical Services – County Maintenance of Effort Requirements testimony

MACo opposed a broad-based requirement that most county services be immune from budget cutbacks year to year, regardless of circumstances.

March 21, 2013:

• HB 390: State Retirement and Pension System – Board of Trustees testimony

MACo supported its initiative bill to create a county “seat at the table” for state pension oversight.
