At the February 20 meeting of the MACo Legislative Committee, Senator Thomas ‘Mac’ Middleton will join the county elected officials to discuss a range of policy issues facing counties.  Senator Middleton served as a Charles County Commissioner from 1986 until 1994 and as part of the MACo legislative committee.  As Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Middleton has gained perspective on a wide range of issues, from public utilities and insurance to labor and workers compensation issues.

Senator Middleton is the lead sponsor of SB 745, a bill seeking to extend the 9-1-1 phone surcharge onto prepaid calling purchases, which currently escape it.  MACo and the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services have long supported the proposal to better support emergency call centers across the state.
