Transportation Tops Legislative Agenda for Metropolitan Council of Governments

The Metropolitan Council of Governments (COG) recently adopted their Legislative Priorities. COG is the regional council for the metropolitan washington area with approximately 300 local, state and federal elected officials representing 22 local governments.  Increased transportation funding tops their list of priorities, which also includes energy efficiency & productivity and water quality protection.  As described by COG,

The current structure and levels of federal and state transportation funding are inadequate for addressing pressing needs for system maintenance, new infrastructure, and the increasingly urgent problem of congestion on both roadway and transit systems in the Washington region.
