Description: Already functioning as emergency personnel during disaster situations, public works and transportation staff have had to step up their game as a result of recent storms, surprise water main breaks, and other occurrences. Multi-day power outages have affected waste water treatment plants, hurricanes and derechos have caused flooding and downed trees, and water main breaks have flooded streets and left residents with no water. Panelists will discuss preparations that are made to confront these disasters and offer best practices for managing through them.
